In my class I uphold the ancient Hindu belief “Atithi Devo Bhava” which means “guests are equivalent to God”.

My classes are held at my humble home in Te Atatu Peninsula. The five-hour journey with me will give you a glimpse into a real Indian home, culture, tradition, hospitality, sumptuous food and very heartwarming story of why we came to New Zealand and why I started teaching.

This multi-sensory experience is designed to inspire, educate and make you have a newfound love and respect towards food. It’s a great night with friends and a feast for the five senses.

It is a great opportunity to re-ignite your love for spices and learn about healthy Indian vegetarian cooking!  The class aims to transport you to India.

My classes are combination of doing, watching and learning.  Together we will create six dishes followed by a banquet which we will feast together.  You will be surprised as to how much will be there for you take home for your loved ones!

The class sizes are small and intimate maximum eight.  I am very happy to accommodate if you have specific food needs.  Groups welcome, menu is customizable if you have certain dishes you would like to learn then let me know.

What I promise is a rounded experience, action packed five hours with a balanced combination of watching, learning and doing.

Here is a short video on my cooking class.

Excellent class!

I thoroughly enjoyed Banu's cooking class! She was a lovely and entertaining teacher and the evening was a great experience. The food was delicious and the techniques Banu taught were practical and easy to follow - I have already implemented some in my own cooking.

She also has a great selection of homemade products available that we used in the cooking, were able to taste and then purchase afterwards if we wanted.

Home cooking class

I attended one of Banu's cooking classes with my daughter. We had a great, interactive time, lots of fun.
Lots of culture too and it was a privilege to be invited into Banu's home, share some Indian culture, and Banu's story.
Some great recipes. Would recommend.

Insightful and authentic evening

I went in with no idea what to expect and walked out genuinely blown away. The whole experience was immersive, insightful, and surprisingly hands-on. Being welcomed into Banu’s home, hearing her stories, and learning her recipes and techniques made the night feel personal and memorable. I’ve already used several of the techniques with great results. It’s a standout way to spend an evening and an incredible gift experience to share with someone you care about.

Very welcoming environment, Banu and her husband do all the preparations and then there's easy hands on work to do. A lot of thought has gone into the classes. Be prepared for a wonderful experience and a full tummy at the end of the night.
