Jeera rice is an Indian dish consisting of rice and cumin seeds. It is a popular dish in North India as an everyday rice dish. It is easy to prepare, unlike biryani. "Zeera" is the Hindi word for cumin seeds, often pronounced Jeera. The ingredients used are rice, cumin seeds, aromatic whole spices.

The pack consists of 1 kg of premium quality basmati rice which if cooked per instruction will become long, fragrant and fluffy.  The pack also contains cumin seeds, bay leaf, black and green cardamom, cinnamon, star anis and cloves.

Basmati rice - 1 cup, Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp., Star Anis - 1, Black cardamom - 1,
Bay leaf - 1, Green Cardamom - 2, Salt to taste, Oil (neutral) - 2 tbsp., and Hot water - 1.75 cups

Wash rice 4-5 times, soak in cold water for 15 minutes, drain and keep ready.

Heat a pan with oil, add cumin seeds and other whole spices. Mix once you get the aroma of the spices, add the rice, salt and hot water, mix gently, cover and let it cook in slow heat.

Keep an eye, gently mix with wooden spoon only once, check from the side if the water is completely dry, put the heat off and the rice is ready.
